Run for Recovery
13th Annual Run for Recovery 5K Canceled
Originally scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2020, 8:00am
In an abundance of caution, the 13th Annual Run For Recovery is canceled. With the current circumstances regarding COVID-19, we are making critical and timely decisions based on guidance from local, national, and international health agencies. We are basing our decisions on the safety and well-being of our volunteers, sponsors, and our runners since there is nothing more important than that.
The Run for Recovery is an annual event that is hosted on the beautiful campus of Kennesaw State University and supports students in recovery from addiction and eating disorders. The Run for Recovery is a kick-off event for National Recovery Month in September. National Recovery Month exists to increase the awareness and understanding of substance use disorders and celebrate the people who recover. Kennesaw State University provides resources to help students find the path to hope, health, and wellness.

The 11th Annual Run for Recovery 5k is hosted on the beautiful campus of Kennesaw State University and supports students in recovery from addiction and eating disorders. The race is hosted by KSU's Health Promotion and Wellness.
The Run for Recovery is a kick-off event for National Recovery Month in September, during which hundreds of events across the country support "the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover" (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). National Recovery Month exists to increase the awareness and understanding of substance abuse issues and celebrate the people who recover. Health Promotion and Wellness wants to expand the reach to not only substance abuse, but also to those with eating disorders. We have resources available on campus to help those in recovery. Some of our program offerings include nutrition counseling and health promotion programs such as Love Your Body Week, Prescription Take Back Day, and National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week.
